Semantic HTML

We build pages with real headings, lists, tables, and landmarks, not plain boxes styled to look like them. That lets screen readers and other assistive tools understand the structure of a page, not just the words on it.

Alt text on images

Images that carry information get real alt text describing what is in them. Images that are only decoration are marked so a screen reader skips past them instead of reading out noise.

Color and contrast

We pick text and background colors with enough contrast to stay readable, including for low vision users. We are not stopping at one audit. We keep checking new pages as we add them and fixing anything that falls short.

Keyboard navigation

Every link, button, and form field on this site can be reached and used with a keyboard alone, no mouse required. Focus states are visible, so you can always see where you are on the page.

A skip link at the very top of every page jumps straight to the main content, so a keyboard or screen reader user does not have to tab through the header and navigation on every single page.
