How is the shrimp guard slot sized?
Every shrimp guard uses a 1.5mm slot. Watch your tank after you install it.
Should I pick the shrimp guard or the fish guard?
Pick the shrimp guard if you keep shrimp, fry, or small snails, since its 1.5mm slot is the narrower of the two. If you keep only fish, our fish guards use a wider 4.0mm slot.
How does the shrimp guard attach to my filter intake?
It slips over your canister hose or intake tube by hand. Each guard names the intake size it is cut for, and our fit chart lists which filter models run that size.
Is the shrimp guard a cage or a sponge?
It is a rigid slotted cage, not soft foam. A cage stays open longer between cleanings than a sponge does.
Do I still need to watch my tank with a guard installed?
Yes. A guard adds a barrier over your intake. Watch your tank after you install it, especially with livestock you care about.
