Eheim Classic Hose Size: 2213, 2217, and Every Model's Hose Diameter

The Eheim Classic 2213 uses 12/16mm hose on both sides. The Eheim Classic 2217 uses 16/22mm on the intake side and 12/16mm on the discharge side. Every Classic model sizes its hose a little differently, and this page lists every one of them.

Eheim Classic 150 (2211): 9/12mm discharge, 12/16mm intake

The Eheim Classic 150, model 2211, uses 12/16mm hose on the intake side and 9/12mm hose on the discharge side. It is the only Classic model with two different hose sizes this small on its two sides.

The 12/16mm size on the 150's intake side is the same size used by two of the other four Classic models below, so it is worth knowing even if you do not own a 150.

Eheim Classic 250 (2213): 12/16mm both sides

The Eheim Classic 250, model number 2213, uses 12/16mm hose on both the intake and the discharge side. It is the simplest Classic model to size, since you only need to match one hose size for the whole filter.

12/16mm is the most common size across the whole Classic line. If you searched for the 2213 hose size, this is the number you are looking for. If you already own a 12/16mm adapter from another Eheim model, it fits a 250 too.

Eheim Classic 350 (2215): 12/16mm both sides

The Eheim Classic 350, model number 2215, also uses 12/16mm hose on both sides, the same as the 250. The 350 is a larger filter, but Eheim kept the hose size the same as the smaller 250.

The 350 sits between the 250 and the 600 in Eheim's Classic lineup, but its hose size does not change until you move up to the 600. If you are moving up from a 250 to a 350, your existing hose and any adapter sized for 12/16mm still fits.

Eheim Classic 600 (2217): 16/22mm intake, 12/16mm discharge

The Eheim Classic 600, model number 2217, steps up to 16/22mm hose on the intake side. The discharge side stays at 12/16mm, the same size used on the smaller models.

This is the first Classic model in the line to mix a larger intake with a smaller discharge. Check which side you are shopping for before you order hose or an adapter. The 12/16mm discharge side is also one of the sizes we offer with a built in clamp groove option, worth a look if this filter sits behind a cabinet door you cannot check often.

Eheim Classic 1500XL (2262): 25/34mm intake, 16/22mm discharge

The Eheim Classic 1500XL, model number 2262, uses the largest hose in the Classic line, 25/34mm, on the intake side. The discharge side steps down to 16/22mm, the same size as the Classic 600 intake.

This is Eheim's biggest Classic canister filter, built for large tanks, and the hose size scales up to match it. We do not have an adapter sized for 25/34mm yet, so today our adapters fit the 1500XL's discharge side only, not its intake.

Why intake and discharge are not always the same size

Eheim sizes each side of a canister filter for its own job, and the intake and discharge do not always match. The intake side pulls a larger volume of water into the filter, so several models use a bigger hose there than on the discharge side.

This trips people up because it is easy to assume one filter uses one hose size. Always check both sides of your model in the table above before you order hose or an adapter.

3. Note the intake size and the discharge size separately.
4. Order hose or an adapter for each side separately if the sizes differ.
