Sump Baffle Clip for 3/8 Inch Panel

This clip is a U shaped channel that holds a sump baffle, the divider panel that splits a sump into chambers. The channel is cut for a 3/8 inch panel, about 9.53mm. Set the panel in the channel dry to place the clip where you want it. Then glue the clip to the sump floor or wall with aquarium silicone, let it cure, and slide the panel down into the channel. The clip holds the panel square, so it does not lean or drift while you work. Most sumps need more than one clip. Plan on a clip at each end of every panel. We print in PETG. Aquarium keepers have used it submerged for years. Rinse before use.

How to put these baffle clips in

What is in the box
One printed U channel. You supply your own glass or acrylic panel.
How it goes on
  1. Slide the panel into the channel and check it sits square before you glue anything down. Sheet stock often runs a little thinner than the size on the label.
  2. Glue the clip to the sump floor or wall with aquarium silicone.
  3. Let the silicone cure. Then slide the baffle panel down into the channel.
  4. Most sumps need more than one clip. Plan on a clip at each end of every panel.
Check it the first time
  • Rinse the part in clean water before it goes in your sump.
  • Check that the panel sits square in the channel.
Cleaning
Slide the panel out and wipe the channel clear.
Taking it off
Silicone holds it, so it stays where you put it. Cut the silicone to take it out.

Safety

A note on safety

We print every part in PETG. It is the material aquarium keepers have used submerged for years. Rinse each part in clean water before you add it to your tank.

Common questions

Which panel thickness should I order, 1/4 inch or 3/8 inch?

Match the clip to your panel's actual thickness, not the label on the glass or acrylic. Sheet stock often runs a little thinner than its listed size.

Do you have a clip for a corner instead of a flat wall?

Yes. A corner version is cut for a baffle that meets the sump wall at a corner, in addition to the straight U channel clips.

How does the clip attach to my sump?

Glue it to the sump floor or wall with aquarium silicone and let it cure. Then slide the baffle panel down into the channel.

Is the clip the whole baffle, or do I supply the panel?

The clip is the U shaped channel only. You supply your own glass or acrylic panel and slide it into the channel.
