Probe, Controller, and Heater Mounts for Your Aquarium

Published July 23, 2026 · 8 min read

A probe holder, a controller bracket, and a heater clip solve three different problems. A probe holder keeps your pH or ORP probe tip where you set it. A controller bracket gets a box like the INKBIRD ITC-308 up off the floor. A heater clip holds your heater against the glass without the stock suction cups.

This guide covers all three, with the sizes we build to and how each one mounts.

Aquarium probe holder: what size fits a pH or ORP probe?

Most pH, ORP, and temperature probes use the same 12mm lab electrode body, a single glass or epoxy cylinder about 12mm across and 120mm long. Our probe clip is keyed to that size, so one part covers most probes at once.

It hooks over your tank or sump wall and grips the probe body, so the probe stays put and the tip stays where you set it. Push the probe into the clip by hand for a snug hold.

Aquarium controller mount: does it fit the INKBIRD ITC-308?

Yes. Our controller bracket is sized to the INKBIRD ITC-308's box, about 140 by 68 by 33mm. It cradles the box and screws to your stand or cabinet wall, so the controller sits up off the floor and stays easy to read.

We are not the maker of the INKBIRD ITC-308, and this bracket carries no logo. It is built to hold the box, not to claim any partnership with INKBIRD.

Aquarium heater clip: where do I clip it?

Clip it around the cool top collar of the heater, above the heating element. Never clip the hot glass in the middle of the heater. Heat that high softens printed plastic, so the top collar is the only safe spot for this clip.

Our heater clip is sized for a 3/4 inch heater body, about 19mm across, the size used by several common aquarium heaters.

The 12mm probe size and the INKBIRD ITC-308 box size are sourced from multiple retail listings agreeing on the same figures, documented in aquarium/research/probe-mounts-2026-07-19/probe-mount-build-spec.md. They are not yet a row in our fitment-data.ts table. Devices vary a little between makers, so check the fit before you rely on it.

Keeping any mount working over time

Every part in this family rides at the tank rim or the cabinet wall, up near light and, for some, near water. Keep dry-side parts out of direct sun, since sun wears down any plastic over time.

We print in PETG. Aquarium keepers have used it submerged for years. Rinse the heater clip before it goes near your tank, the same as any part that touches water.

Frequently asked questions

What size probe does the TankRig probe clip fit?+

It is keyed to a 12mm probe body, the size most pH, ORP, and temperature probes use. We also make a universal clip for a probe between 10 and 24mm, if you measure your own and it falls outside 12mm.

Does TankRig make a mount for the INKBIRD ITC-308?+

Yes. Our controller bracket is sized to the ITC-308's box, about 140 by 68 by 33mm. We also make a universal bracket for any controller, relay, or timer box if you measure your own.

Where do I clip an aquarium heater clip?+

Clip it around the cool top collar of the heater, above the heating element. Never clip the hot glass near the element, since that heat softens printed plastic.

What size heater does the TankRig heater clip fit?+

It is sized for a 3/4 inch heater body, about 19mm across.

Is TankRig an authorized INKBIRD dealer?+

No. We are not the maker of the INKBIRD ITC-308, and our bracket carries no logo. We build a part sized to fit the box, nothing more.

Do I need to rinse these parts before use?+

Rinse any part that touches water, like the heater clip, before it goes in your tank. Dry-side parts like the controller bracket do not need rinsing, but keep them out of direct sun.

A note on safety

We print every part in PETG. It is the material aquarium keepers have used submerged for years. We cannot promise how any part performs in your tank. You know your tank and your animals best, so the call is always yours. Rinse each part in clean water before you add it to your tank.
